for proposed oral and poster presentations should not be longer than 350 words maximum

(excluding author names and affiliations). Oral and poster presentations will be selected from

abstractsubmissions,andabstractsfromallpresentationswillbepublishedintheconferenceBook

ofAbstracts.Selected full-text publications will be published in Silva BalcanicaorForestScience

(„Науказагората“inBulgarian).

Acad . Alexander ALEXANDROV is Director of FRI-BAS (Bulgaria) in 1989-93 ,

2003-2007and2008-2012.In1990heisMinisterofEnvironmentandWatersof

Bulgaria. He is a Member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the

International Eurasian Academy of Sciences, the Balkan Environmental

FederationandaChairoftheIUFRONationalCommittee.Acad.Alexandrovhas

participatedinEUFORGENProgrammeandinmanyprogrammesandprojects.

His broad professional experience covers scientific investigations in forest

genetics and selection, biodiversity of forest species, dendrology, forestry ,

forestecologyandmanagement,forestpolicy.Hehasmorethan250scientific

publications,incl.12monographs.

Prof. Paolo CHERUBINI  is Senior scientist in the Research Group

"Dendrosciences" at the WSL Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and

Landscape Research in Birmensdorf (Switzerland). He is a lecturer at Columbia

University(NewYork,USA),UniversityofNebraska(Lincoln,USA),guestprofessor

at the Institute of the Environment at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and

lecturesonEnvironmentalResearchonTreeRingsattheUniversityofZurich.

Prof. Gavriil XANTHOPOULOS is Associate Researcher at the Institute for

Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Forest Products Technology ofthe

Hellenic Agricultural Organization "Demetra". For more than 25 years, he

hasbeenactively involved in European forest fires research.His scientific

interests are focused on forest fire policy, fire prevention, fire risk

assessment,firebehaviormodeling,post-firerehabilitation,forestfiresand

climate change, fire prevention, forest fuel management and modern

technologiesapplicationinforestfiremanagement.Prof.Xanthopouloshas

publishedmorethan200paperswithbroadresearchspectrumandfollow

hisinvolvementinscientificandoperationalactivities.

Prof. DSc Alain ROQUES is Entomologist with over 31 years of

experienceinbiology,ecologyandinsectbehavior.HeisResearch

DirectorintheForestzoologyunitattheFrenchNationalInstitute

forAgriculturalResearchinOrléans(France).Overthelast10years

hisresearchhasfocusedonbiologicalinvasionsandtheeffectof

global warming on terrestrial invertebrates. Prof. Roques

participatesinalargenumberofEU-fundedscientificprojectsfor

biological invasions. Prof.Roques is the maineditor of the book

Alien terrestrial arthropods of Europe (2010). He has published

morethan100peer-reviewedpapersonecologyandentomology,

Prof. John INNES isDeanoftheFacultyofForestryatUniversityofBritish

Columbia ( Canada) where he teaches in the field of international and

sustainable forestry. He is actively involved in climate change research ,

particularly on the impacton forest ecosystems andthe development of

appropriate adaptation strategies. In 2007 , he is part of the team of the

InternationalClimateChangePlatform(IPCC),whichtogetherwithAlGore

sharestheNobelPeacePrize.HeisanHonoraryProfessorialFellowinthe

MelbourneSchoolofLandandEnvironmentattheUniversityofMelbourne

andHonoraryProfessoratfourdifferentChineseuniversities.
