
Prof. Gavriil XANTHOPOULOS is Associate Researcher at the Institute for
Mediterranean Forest Ecosystems and Forest Products Technology ofthe
Hellenic Agricultural Organization "Demetra". For more than 25 years, he
hasbeenactively involved in European forest fires research.His scientific
interests are focused on forest fire policy, fire prevention, fire risk
assessment,firebehaviormodeling,post-firerehabilitation,forestfiresand
climate change, fire prevention, forest fuel management and modern
technologiesapplicationinforestfiremanagement.Prof.Xanthopouloshas
publishedmorethan200paperswithbroadresearchspectrumandfollow
hisinvolvementinscientificandoperationalactivities.
Prof. DSc Alain ROQUES is Entomologist with over 31 years of
experienceinbiology,ecologyandinsectbehavior.HeisResearch
DirectorintheForestzoologyunitattheFrenchNationalInstitute
forAgriculturalResearchinOrléans(France).Overthelast10years
hisresearchhasfocusedonbiologicalinvasionsandtheeffectof
global warming on terrestrial invertebrates. Prof. Roques
participatesinalargenumberofEU-fundedscientificprojectsfor
biological invasions. Prof.Roques is the maineditor of the book
Alien terrestrial arthropods of Europe (2010). He has published
morethan100peer-reviewedpapersonecologyandentomology,
Prof. John INNES isDeanoftheFacultyofForestryatUniversityofBritish
Columbia ( Canada) where he teaches in the field of international and
sustainable forestry. He is actively involved in climate change research ,
particularly on the impacton forest ecosystems andthe development of
appropriate adaptation strategies. In 2007 , he is part of the team of the
InternationalClimateChangePlatform(IPCC),whichtogetherwithAlGore
sharestheNobelPeacePrize.HeisanHonoraryProfessorialFellowinthe
MelbourneSchoolofLandandEnvironmentattheUniversityofMelbourne
andHonoraryProfessoratfourdifferentChineseuniversities.
