IX-th Scientific seminar of the Forest Research Institute

On April 11-12, 2019, the traditional scientific seminar of the Forest Research Institute took place. The seminar was dedicated to the “150th Anniversary of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences”, “80th anniversary of the birth of Cor. Member Boyan Rosnev” and “Forest Week”. Scientists and employees of the Forest Research Institute, as well as guests from State hunting enterprise “Vitoshko-Studena”, representatives of State Forestry Enterprise Smolyan, Forest Protection Station – Sofia, and engineer-agronomist Nikolay Rosnev – Deputy Executive Director of the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency attended the seminar.

The first day of the seminar took place in the State hunting enterprise “Vitoshko-Studena” with the courtesy of Damyan Damyanov, Director of Southwest State Enterprise Blagoevgrad. The event was officially opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Margarita Georgieva – Scientific Secretary of FRI-BAS. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miglena Zhiyanski – Director of FRI-BAS gave welcoming speech, congratulating the colleagues and guests of the seminar. Cor. member Plamen Mirchev presented a posthumous honorary note in recognition of the long-standing work and scientific contributions of Cor. Member Boyan Rosnev that was accepted by his family members.

The program continued with plenary sessions, where 19 reports and 6 posters about the scientific work of the FRI-BAS researchers and PhD students have been presented.

The National Scientific Program “Environment” was popularized at Round table where the progress on work package I.1.4 Impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems was presented.

The second seminar day took place in the FRI-BAS building and 19 reports on various investigations and innovative approaches in forest areas have been presented to the seminar attendees.

International Symposium Jeonju, South Korea

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miglena Zhiyanski / Director of FRI-BAS/ and Ch. Assistant Dr. Yonko Dodev took participation and presented Bulgarian experience in the International Symposium on planning of Judikgwon forest healing complex, 03/04/2019, Jeonju, South Korea. We are thankful to the organizers for the invitation and special thanks to Prof. Won Sop Shin – Former Minister of KSF and Chairperson of the FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization)’s 25th Session of the Committee on Forestry (COFO) for the period 2018-2020.
