International seminar “Awareness raising and willingness for cooperation of young people for forest protection” under the project “For everyone saved a tree (FOREST)” was held on October 4, 2019 in the town of Niš, Republic of Serbia. Open Doors Day

На On September 30, 2019, the Forest Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences is organizing Open Doors Day under the motto “BAS presents its institutes” and “150 years since the founding of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences”.

На The event features short film screenings about present environmental concerns, forests and related scientific projects with the participation of the Institute. The labs will be open throughout the day and colleagues will prepare interesting demonstrations, experiments and analyses. The Forest Research Institute has a vast park area and arboretum where an open lesson/presentation are planned.

На Part of the program is the presentation of a Proceeding papers dedicated to “150 years since the foundation of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences” and “80 years since the birth of Art. Cor. Boyan Rosnev. “

The official start of the program is at 10:00 am and the Open Doors Day will continue until 4:00 pm.

Award – Dr. Angel Fezerliev

On May 29, 2019, during an opening ceremony of a monument of the forestry memory and in relation to the 58th anniversary of the wind-spout in the Western Rhodopes, Dr. Angel Fezerliev (Experimental Base for Coniferous Forests, FRI-BAS, Velingrad) was awarded an Honorary Diploma for contributions and merits to State Enterprise “Selishte”. To support the idea and the cause of the forestry mission, a sapling of Spiraea japonica “Golden princess” was given on behalf of the Forest Research Institute – BAS.
